Let's face it, the power doesn't often go out on a nice sunny afternoon. It goes out in the middle of the night, during cruddy, nasty weather.

It's rainy, it's cold, the wind is howling. The last thing you want to do is get bundled up and go outside to start the generator, and connect it to the generator transfer switch.

Sometimes you might not even know the power is out till you wake up in the morning to a cold house, already late for work.

What you need is a fully automatic standby power system consisting of an auto starting generator and an automatic transfer switch. The problem is, you've already got a great  generator with electric start.

You want to convert the generator you already own, into something that will start automatically, allow you to view critical generator and engine data, and monitor itself for problems. You can then connect it to a ASCO Automatic Transfer Switch, and never again wake up to a cold house, or worry that your family will be without power if you're away.

INTRODUCING THE P4X275 AUTO START CONTROL PANEL

The P4X275 will start up your generator, monitor it for problems, and then shut it off when it's not needed any more. It is designed to work with your generator transfer switch, creating a fully automatic backup power system.

• The unit is easy to install, and all adjustments are made using the front panel keypad. There is also no magnetic speed sensor to install, making installation that much easier.

• The P4X275 will work with our ASCO series 165 or 300 automatic transfer switch to create a fully automatic standby system.

• It will work with any electric start generator that does not need a human to operate the choke. From the smallest gasoline generator, to the largest diesel unit, the P4X275 will fit them all.

• There are built in shutdowns for low oil pressure, high engine temperature, and over/under speed conditions. This will protect your generators engine from harm.

• The P4X275 comes with a full set of engine gauges (oil pressure, coolant  temp, battery voltage, hour meter), and a full set of generator gauges (voltage, current, and frequency).

• It is housed in a rugged vibration isolated ABS plastic enclosure that can be either shelf or wall mounted.

• The P4X275 comes as a complete kit, including all senders, etc.

HOW THE P4X275 WORKS

• When the Automatic Transfer Switch detects a power outage, it signals the P4X275 generator control panel to start the generator.

• If the generator is a diesel unit, the P4X275 will activate the glow plugs for an adjustable amount of time.

• It will then engage the starter and attempt to start the generator. If the generator does not start after 10 seconds of cranking, it will disengage the starter for 10 seconds before trying to start the generator again. It will try to start the generator 3 times before giving up.

• When the generator starts, the P4X275 will disengage the starter. (It senses engine speed by measuring the frequency of the generator output.) Your generator transfer switch will sense that the generator is running and automatically switch to generator power

• When the generator has been running for 12 seconds the P4X275 will start monitoring the oil pressure, engine temperature, battery voltage, and RPM.

• If the generator looses oil pressure, overheats, or goes into an over/under speed condition, the P4x275 will shut down the generator to protect your investment.

• When the transfer switch signals the P4X275 it will shut off the generator and wait for the next power outage.
